Abdulaziz Al Qahtani, An Intimate Geography. At London’s Lahd Gallery until January 19, 2011.

Some of the pieces in this series are definitely more compelling than others. The description does a disservice by framing the work as being about the “intimate relationship between Middle Eastern women and Western societies” (groan). I like the cheekiness and the sexuality of this photo, it would stand better as an exercise in play, rather than some sort of forced ‘cross-cultural’ narrative.
